ALBENA

      Sea, sand, greenness and quietness the ancient Thracians who inhabited these lands long time ago named the place The valley of Spring, and the ancient Romans called it Gerranium (Health). For millions of tourists nowadays, this is the perfect vacation destination due to the endless beaches with golden sands, the tender sea, the fresh air, the hotels nicely fitting in the landscape and the traditional Bulgarian hospitality. This piece of paradise, which has the beautiful name Albena (meaning magic beauty), has been attracting tourists from all over the world for more than 40 years now. Those who were once touched by its magic, always come back to feel its energy again, and to refresh the sensations of sun, sea, warmth and friendship taking with them a memorable piece of Bulgaria to their far-away lands.

      The Black Sea resort is situated in the north-east part of Bulgaria, only 8 km from the ancient town of Balchik, and 30 km from the district center Dobrich and from the seaport city of Varna. The mean summer air temperature is +28, and the sea water temperature during the holiday season is +25.

      Albena is located in the midst of the picturesque natural reserve Baltata, within its unique dense forest spread on an area of 18 hectares. This natural reserve is crossed by the main road between Kranevo and Albena, forms a beautiful background for the hotels in the resort and reaches to the coastal beaches. Over 250 higher plant species have been registered here, 16 of which are included in the Redbook of rare species of Bulgaria.

VISA APPLICATION / INVITATION LETTER

      There are many different requirements to obtain a Visa to enter a country. Most embassies may request an 'Invitation Letter' from the Conference Organizing Committee to verify that the exact person is going to participate that specific conference. It may also be necessary to verify that the requester has paid the registration fee in full. Therefore there are some requirements for providing an 'Invitation Letter' that to be used for visa application.

'Invitation letters' should only be issued to:

      1. Attendees who have made their complete Registration at the conference web site and paid their Registration fee in full;
      2. Conference members;

      All question concerning your visa application status should be pointed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the respective Bulgarian Embassy in your country or/and to the Bulgarian Diplomatic Missions Abroad.

      Conference Organizing Committee is not taking the responsibility if some attendant's visa request is granted or not. There is not tax refund.
      No visas are required for the citizens of European Union and EFTA member countries to enter Bulgaria.
      If you are from a country (not a member of the EU) you shall need visa to enter Bulgaria.

GETTING THERE

      Albena is right on the Black sea coast of Bulgaria, which is neighbored by the countries of Romania to the North, Greece to the South and Macedonia and Serbia to the West. While this means that one could travel from any of these countries into Bulgaria, it is probably more worthwhile to fly directly to the Bulgarian coast itself to save the trouble of navigating through Eastern Europe's traffic.

By Plane

      Albena's closest airport is the International Airport of Varna which welcomes around 1.5 million visitors every year, many of whom are traveling from the main European airports.

      The international airports of Varna and Bourgas are used for international flights, as well as for local flights from Sofia and for charter flights during the summer, serving the beach resorts on the Black Sea coast.
